General Information:

Since 1993, the State of Georgia partners with public and private childcare providers to serve over 70,000 four year olds annually.  The Pre-K program is funded from the Georgia Lottery for Education, thus no enrollment fees for the child's participation in the program.  The Pre-K program encourages children to learn from their classroom experiences as well as from one another.  Guided by the program's standards, the classes provide opportunities for learning and growth in:
  • Language and Literacy Development
  • Mathematical Development
  • Scientific Development
  • Social Studies Development
  • Creative Development
  • Social and Emotional Development
  • Health and Physical Development
Children can participate in this program if they are four (4) years of age on September 1st of the current school year and their parents are Georgia residents. Each Georgia Pre-K class:
  • has no more than 22 children (class sizes will be 20 students for 2015-2016 school year)
  • features a lead teacher and assistant teacher
  • provides 6.5 hour instructional day
  • is taught with approved curriculum
  • communicates with parents and families
  • is evaluated annually
  • Breakfast, Lunch and Snack are provided free-of-charge
