- Through our early childhood theorists and child psychologist believe providing young children with experiences to play is an important role in the development of their brains. In my toddler class (12-36 months) the children "learn through play". My curriculum/lesson plans are activities designed to focus on Cognitive Development, Physical Development, and Creative Arts. Through cognitive development the activities focus on language development and early literacy, emerging math, and science concepts. Activities are planned to meet each child's skill level and expand level of difficulty as the child gains mastery of each activity of skill using the Georgia Early Learning and Development Standards (GELDS). Outside play is an extension of the classroom. Dramatic play, art, music, math, and science activities take place outside. The use of classroom technology is used to e-mail parents with daily activities, pictures, monthly newsletters, and updates in the toddler classroom. My goal is to make sure my toddler classroom is filled with daily discovery, wonder, and learning. The foundations for lifelong learning as well as engaging all their senses for a balanced early childhood development.
